Have you ever lost? Have you ever lost so much you felt you could lose no more? Have you ever lost so much you wanted to scream at the heavens and ask God why? Despair and hope are all intertwined in this story set in a place rattled by violence and a never-ending fight for survival. The grim reaper is a normal visitor and death knows no limits here. In the end I hope you get to see with more than your eyes what life can be and learn to appreciate that which you have. The story is based on true events and it carries the truths of my community.

 This is my first story ever writing so please don't be too judgy with me. Go easy on me. Hope you like it. Be blessed.

Sure, he looks like them, and tries to follow in their footsteps, but no matter how much he tries to be the invincible 'lord of death' his father expects him to be, something inside him seems to pull him down a forbidden path that could lead to his true destiny... or his inevitable demise. But not anymore. A sudden thunder booming through our living room announced the unreversible end of the summer. And that of a precious life. My husband's. But still there is hope and life. Somewhere. Why do bad things happen to good people? A question that his boy is making himself more then ever this days. From the beginning we see a 17 year old boy, struggling to finish high School, filled up with insecurities, mental health issues, a toxic family home, and impossible standards to live up to. He has learn to not only hate his life, but to want finish it off as fast as possible. Close to finally graduating high school his English teacher, Mr Steve, assigns the class a special progect. "To be able to see life through different eyes, and write about it." For this, Mr Steve gets his class to assist a hospital 3 times a week, and assigns each student, with a patient. This is the moment where this boy meets Royal, a cancer sick 17 year old girl, that has lived in a hospital her hole life, but still finds beauty and meaning in it. Through out the report the boy gets more and more involved in Royal's life, spending unfortunately moments together. But through out the journey he asks himself more and more. "Why do bad things happen to good people?"
