Just about everyone knows the classic German folktale (told in their different and respective languages) Rapunzel. Disney has even made a movie on Rapunzel called Tangled. Well, I'm going to put a gory spin on it, along with the baddies being good and vice versa.

At the end of the fairytale "Rapunzel", Rapunzel and her prince return to their kingdom, where they supposedly live happily ever after. But the fate of the witch, Mother Gothel, is not mentioned. This is an alternate ending to the fairytale in which Gothel reappears... and it isn't pretty. I don't own "Rapunzel". And this is not in any way based on the movie Tangled.

This is a very old tale of The Brother's Grimm, almost 200 years old, or possibly more. This tale is about a young girl who was born with very, very long hair, who was kidnapped at birth by a wicked, old hag. There are many versions of this tale, such as the King stealing lettuce from the hag's garden, and as a punishment the hag took his newborn daughter. Some involve the hag stealing the baby because of it's beauty and youth. Though many versions of this tale has been told over the years, the plot remains the same. It was about a young girl with long hair who was kidnapped at a young age by an old hag, and then confined in a tower with only one window. This version of the tale involves the hag's past. This is the tale of love, loss, and grief. And of course, a little bit of magic.

This is my take on the idea of a Varian spin-off series of Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure. The AU was presented to Disney by storyboarders Kay Ritter and Anna Lencioni who took a liking to Varian's character and decided to create a story for him in his later years; detailing the adventures he might go on and the friends he makes along the way.
