When you die, do you get to choose how to spend your afterlife?
What if you did get to choose, then you wouldn't know if your Choice is the right one.
And if you chose and were told later on that it was already decided by someone else, would that make you feel helpless?

This is a story of one who is given a Choice and a destiny that seems so far away.
With the Dark rising against the thought of Change, and the Light fighting for the King; nothing is as simple as the words in stone.
And even then, the words are no longer safe from the claws of Fortune....

Sword still in her hands, she stomped her foot again. "Why are you smiling?" Brainwashed? Check. Sheltered? Check. Lost and alone? Check and, uh, check. That about summed Megan up. Banished from the heavens-kicked out-same thing-everyone thought for sure that this was it for her. Of course, no one had taken the demon King into account. He shrugged. "Because I'm happy." "Why?" She asked. "Because I find you endearing." "Why?" Desperate? Damn straight. Loved up? Beyond recognition. Prepared to rip anybody and everybody's throat out at any given moment for looking at her wrong? Absolutely. Claudio had waited far too long for his mate. Nothing was getting in the way of their forever. Not life. Not death. Certainly not a war that she'd be heading. "Because I've waited a long time for this. I'm going to explain to you what it means to be a... mate."
