The sun and the moon are always separate, but together at the same time. One shows bright lights to signal day and creates warmth, and the other illuminates the night sky, only bright enough to show stars and control the tide in the oceans. 

So much can happen in the single switch of the two. Rising in the east setting in the west. The warmth of the sun setting into the cold misty air of the moon. Some may say the sun provides and give those energy while the moon helps others rest. Some may say the opposite.
