Crystal Carter a fourteen year old girl living on her own in this messed up world where walkers roam the earth. Who was once in a group with her family but we're over run by walkers. Leaving her to escape with nothing to defend herself with. Crystal called that luck. She has no idea how to defend herself agasint a world like this. She hides away and finds a good place to stay for at least a little while. 

A boy who seems to be around her age, finds her, she hesitates if she should go with him but decided it would be best, knowing she wouldn't survive much longer on her own. Crystal stays at the prison and meets people there. She wonders how long this place could be safe, she hopes that it would last. 
She notices that she starts to have feelings for him. Could there be love in a world like this anymore?
