By her twentieth birthday, there are a few things Valarie Ricci knows for certain.

She knows that her waitressing job barely covers the costs of living out of a beat up old van. She knows she's stuck in the dead end hometown her high school friends have all moved on from. She knows that, after spending her teenage years as his caretaker, her grandfather is gone. And she knows that it's her fault.

She also knows that Alice Bell, an ex-girlfriend with a dark past and bad habits, broke her heart two years ago.

When Alice barges back into Valarie's life and invites her on a cross-country road trip to chase the ghost of Alice's missing sister, Valarie doesn't know what to do - and she really doesn't know why she says yes. But before Valarie has any hope of figuring out why Alice is seeing ghosts, she must learn how to confront her own grief, including the turmoil that tore the two of them apart so long ago.

[ OPEN NOVELLA CONTEST 2019 SHORTLISTED ] [ FEATURED ON MYSTERY ] Mikaela didn't want anything to do with her past. Her life already changed to a drastic extent when she had to be the sole witness of an "accident". 10 years later, a new accident pulled her back to her hometown. Because it resembled something she dreaded for long. But things aren't the same in Glenville, and she realises that she wasn't the only one who knew what happened that night. People have changed. There were new perspectives, new love, too much hallucinations (or are they?) topped up with self-fed lies and bitter truths. But we know that what we know doesn't always come true. And the ride to knowing about the fact that you don't know is a bumpy one. But to find out who the other person is who knows about night other than her could cost her many things - even her own sweet life. TW
