Evelyn Halloway had never been anything special. She was neither important nor unimportant. She lived in a middle-class family of middle level importance in a middle of the road pack. And, Evelyn knew that with the mating ceremony coming up, she'd most likely find a mate just like her, someone of mid-level standing and stature.

But, of course, it could never be that easy.

So, what is she supposed to do when more than one wolf of high-standing takes notice of her? And, what happens when she realizes she might not be who she always thought she was? Something greater than a mere Halloway?

"Love is just another kind of power. The only question is-who holds it, and who is foolish enough to give it away?" At eighteen, Ira was forced into marriage with a man she did not love-an aging, wealthy noble whose power kept her safe but caged. Now, with his death, his fortune, influence, and enemies are hers to inherit. As the only human wielding true power in a society ruled by werewolves, Ira is both envied and despised. Some want to control her, others want to see her fall, and one in the shadows might want something far more dangerous. But when Ira crosses paths with the Alpha King, a man who never takes interest in humans, everything changes. His attention is as intoxicating as it is dangerous, a promise wrapped in steel. And in the shadows, watching her with a sharper, quieter kind of hunger, stands the Beta-a man even more dangerous than the king himself. Torn between two men who should be her enemies and a world waiting for her downfall, Ira must navigate a game of power, betrayal, and whispered temptation. Because in a world where love is just another form of control, the only way to survive is to master the game-or be devoured by it.
