Mercy Everdeen is Katniss and Primrose's older sister. She won the Games when she was reaped at the age of sixteen, and on the Victor's tour, she fell rather hopelessly in love with one of the other Victors, Finnick Odair. They get talking and become really good friends, but Mercy aches to be more than that. But Finnick only seems to have eyes for Annie Cresta, a young woman their age who went slightly insane after she won the Games. With the amount that Finnick goes on about it, Mercy begins to find it really hard to cope with him constantly praising Annie for her bravery at coping with what she lost, when Mercy is stood there having to cope with so much more; her best friend died in those Games, taking his own life so that she could win; her father died down in the mines while she was away, and her mother went into a state of depression... but Mercy couldn't be there to do anything, and she lives with that every day. So one day it all gets too much. Will Finnick realise his mistakes and realise his love for Mercy, or will he be blinded by his love for Annie and throw Mercy away once she stand up for herself?
