"I've cleansed you." XD says in satisfaction. "Not a trace of rot remains. You're pure now, and so I send you to those who are not."

Punz reaches up and stretches his arms over his head, opens his wings wide until the feathers seem to reach from end to end of the island they stand upon. The hunger gnaws at his belly like a living thing.

"What do you want me to do?"

XD grins with the void of his face.

"Make them fear me."
-------------------------------------
Punz was once a sacrifice, now he's an angel. Their god gave them wings, inexhaustible hunger, and a single mission: make them fear. So he wanders.

He makes a few friends, a few enemies, and he searches to fill the craving that never wanes. Water, wine, blood itself...anything is edible as long as it's holy. Punz meets the holy and the sinful and the mundane, all in pursuit of something to lessen the famine in his stomach.

He is an angel, and he hunts.

"Death, I think I could handle. It's the waiting that kills me." Humanity is no more. Struggling out of the rubble are the Lumière and the Fos, two races whose only edible source of food is the hearts of one another, and no matter how much they eat they're eternally hungry. Perhaps they were once the same-- brothers in humanity-- but now they're brothers in cannibalism. Though these monsters may look human, it's important to remember they are anything but. They are not alive, and they are definitely not human. Kai Chrysostom's brother, Ash, just died. He was the family's Sawney, the hunter of Fos: the one who went into the white plains just beyond the city walls to hunt Fos for food so his family could live. Most days, he would arrive home, place heart after heart on the dinner table and smile at his brother, whose constant twitching and childhood disease meant he could never kill a Fos himself. Now, the task falls to Kai. Considered by most to be disabled, Kai has no hunt training, a fear of death, and worse-- a fear of the past. A death. A journey. Eternal hunger. A hunt he never wanted to join. And love. A girl Fos who spares everyone except him, and takes pity on the poor fool as he literally faints at the sight of blood in front of her. A prison. A savior. A loss. More death. And the past that demands to be remembered. And, it's great-- you've sympathized with your only source of food-- but you're hungry. And, deep down, you know you must eat. ~~~ 45,205 words! Finished! Finally~!!

The world is full of corruption, tragedy, and disaster. Rape, murder, embezzlement, human trafficking. You name it. There is nothing humans won't do for money, power or self-gratification. More than that it always seems that the downtrodden and the good-natured always suffer the most. The cherry on top? All this suffering is supposed to be rewarded in heaven when you die...if you make it there that is. Sounds ridiculous, right? Don't worry you aren't alone. My name is Jasmine Peters and I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired as the world around me crumbles while Sky Daddy watches from his ivory tower. I was cursed with the ability to read minds and now I'm owning this curse on my own terms and saving whoever I can with it. If God won't help us... I will. Gabriel: I'll never understand The Almighty's infatuation with these creatures. Humans demand so much, but yet they give so little and whatever they are given they destroy. The audacity of this human especially leaves me particularly annoyed. She dares to defy divinity and scoffs in the face of The Almighty when it was divinity that has gifted her with the ability to do so in the first place. Only a creature as lost as a human would be given a gift and label it a curse. Nonetheless, as the hand of The Almighty, I will do as I am asked by tending the flock and heard this lost sheep back to pasture. As troublesome as she may be, I fear there is something much more sinister at play and she appears to be at the epicenter of this chaos.
