In Fern Kingdom, a young girl must use her rare infrared power against a shapeshifter. What will happen when she meets the handsome Axis Nethoraba and learns a secret no other villager knows?

Fifteen-year-old Evangeline Estiemiéres has a gift. She is the only person in Fern Kingdom who has flames, literally, in her hair. Because of her flames, King Erasmus lends her a special place on the hunting party with three other soldiers.

A mischievous shapeshifter is wandering around Eva's village. Erasmus claims that whoever can bring his head will win a lifetime supply of gold coins. After accidentally burning down her bakery and a tavern, Eva is desperate to regain her people's trust, including her mother's. To do so, she must train under the watchful eyes of the oh-so-handsome Axis Nethoraba, a young man who wields a secret himself that the kingdom is unaware of. She also has to find her place in her all-male-dominant society.

Eva has to choose: destroy the shapeshifter or Axis if she hopes to succeed. What will she, Evangeline's Flame, choose?

Growing up in a large, middle-class (if not lower) family had its challenges. More than I can account for actually. I had five older sisters and two older brothers. Throw me into the mix and that's a grand total of eight children living under one roof. If my mom hadn't stopped with yours truly, we would have definitely been able to form an entire soccer team with just our family alone. I can't recall much of my childhood and exactly how I interacted with each and every one of my siblings, but I can assure you that it was nowhere near a nice walk through the park. Even until this very day, I still stand by my statement. This is a story about a broken girl who fools the world with one simple action which requires less than ten muscles. Eton College is the world's most prestigious boarding school. It's also just opened it's coveted doors to the female half of the population. When Grace was forced to take the entrance exams and subsequently got in, she assumed that leaving home to go to boarding school wouldn't be all that different to living with her parents who had never paid her much attention. And she was right. For a while. She thought that she'd have to deal with pranks and tones of sexual innuendos. Instead what gives her trouble is the Eton vocabulary, classes on a Saturday and being thrust into the centre of things when actually, she's perfectly happy to sit in the background being ignored. She's also being filmed for a documentary about the school and is suddenly made moderately famous. All that sort of goes on a back burner though because before she knows it, she's on the rowing team and best friends with (and falling for) the world's most eligible bachelor - the Crown Prince of Great Brittan and the Commonwealth, His Royal Highness Benjamin "just call me Ben" the Prince of Wales. Surrounded by new friends who have normal relationships with their parents and gaining confidence from them, Grace comes to question the way she was raised for the first time, but can she and her parents carve out a new relationship when they are so far apart and hardly see one another?
