Most of the time JJ isn't home because he always fights with his father, frequently when his father is drunk, however her sister stays at home and start to push everyone away because she didn't want anyone to find that he hurts her, specially his brother.
Later when JJ and his friends found out, JJ faces their father but his sister tries to avoid them to fight so she asks him to leave, nevertheless they fight and if it weren't for her JJ would have hurt him even more. After that, they took her to the hospital and everyone in Outer banks finds out, then she tries to make a movie night and use that as an excuse to talk with one of her closest friends Sarah and stop the resentment between her and Kiara, then John B interferes to help her.
Sarah doesn't want his father to hurt her anymore so she helps her to move out to her house, and she hopes that she stop pushing her away, then JJ's sister realizes that always keeping things to herself only cause greater damages to her and everyone that loves her.
Finally she opens up to her brother and they console each other.

takes place after the events of season 1 (edit: I wrote this way before season 2 or 3 came out so yuh) It's been a month since John B and Sarah have been pronounced dead. No bodies were found which gives them the smallest sliver of hope. But hope of what? That their friends somehow survived that deadly storm? That their bodies are still floating around somewhere in the Pacific? There is no hope anymore. John B, their best friend, is dead. There's nothing more to it. He's dead and so is Sarah.
