It is the 41st Millennium and the Imperium of Man only knows war. Chaos threatens to topple it, aliens and Xenos come at it from all sides. There is only war. But for the group under control of Imperial Inquisitor Haydrax Ishamael Ignatio Jacobeam the Fourth, they face the true enemy of the Imperium: the forces of Chaos and the Heretics that follow the Ruinous powers. Ryn Alera has only known slavery throughout her life. The last place she expected to find help was with the Empire. When Ryn is due to serve the rest of her life on Kessel, she makes a stand for her freedom. When a rogue stormtrooper helps her escape, Ryn finds herself trapped in a whirlwind of war and danger.
