I swallowed the lump in my throat before answering. My own voice coming out hoarse due to the lack of its use. "Like what?" I almost whisper back given the close proximity between our bodies. I can feel every small puff of air he exudes while gazing at the starless sky. He chuckles under his breath at my oblivious state, the smoke in my system clearly clouding my judgment.

"Staring at an almost empty sky at 3 in the morning in an empty field" he explained in a half assertive, half timid tone. My lips curled into a lopsided grin and as I thought over the words I wanted to say. I stood up from my position on the ground, a gist of air crashing against my face while I sit cross legged with my hands on my stomach.

"An empty sky is like a blank canvas for me, you can paint it however you'd like" I breathed out while looking up. "It reminds me of my life". I whispered hoping he wouldn't hear me knowing he did. He lays there baffled by my reasoning and sits up cross legged with me. His forest green eyes burning into mine with such intensity.

"Why do you gape at it then?" He questioned in an intriguing tone making me chuckle under my breath. I take his hand and take a deep breath before saying-

"Well, stare a nightmare in the face long enough and it starts taking the shape of comfort".
