"But one doesn't have to be a confidant of the High Lord to know no war is as easily won as the one against Hybern. Quietness after bloodshed is never a good sign, general Cassian."

Time is fleeting for those who do not live forever. Never enough to achieve fulfilment, never enough to overcome regrets.

For those blessed with forever, endless time is the biggest of burdens. Time cannot swallow secrets, nor can it erase them.

On the night of the Winter Solstice, three decades after the war against Hybern has been won, a female Illyrian crawls her way from the mountains, holding a shadow of the High Lord's blurry past.
Fighting a ghost whose power is unknown, the Inner Circle crumples from within and new alliances must be formed before death takes its newest victims.

Velaris. City of Starlight, Art and most importantly Freedom. Or so it seems for Meira. As daughter of an Illyrian Lord she has never been able to go see the City herself, not to even speak of freedom. When her parents set the date for her clipping Meira can't take it anymore, she flees. ************************************* "See! You're laughing!" I put a bookmark into the book and slapped it shut. Azriel's voice sounded through me: "I'm not laughing, believe me." I glared at him suspiciously, now he grinned, I rolled my eyes: "I think it's a cute story." "It is, you'll tell me how it ends?" he sounded somewhat serious. I squinted at him, he smiled at me again, an almost invisible dimple coming out on the left of his lips: "Fine."
