Peter and Jaclyn Mueller, are two ornithologists that became infatuated with each other in Nepal while both researching the rare Turdoides nipalensis. After marrying and later discovering they were unable to conceive, they return to the US and look into adopting a baby. After a long and grueling process, the couple are emailed a picture of the child. But Amara bāla is not just a child. Amara bāla is the chosen one, she is The Immortal Child.

"Well, Ms. Ashley, nothing is wrong with you. You're as healthy as ever" I sighed with relief. "So, what happened then?" I asked the doctor. "When was your last menstrual cycle?"
