During a drunk night out with his comrades, David-an ex-mercenary and currently travelling bard-accidentally stumbles into the cave of a hermit. The hermit, Alexander Winters, has isolated himself after losing control of his magic and harming his loved ones.

As Alexander attempts to rid himself of David's presence, David's comrades are captured by an evil overlord, whose fortress can only be breached with the power of an enchanter.

Of course, David turns to Alexander for help. And Alexander accepts the quest-but with a warning: he may end up doing more harm than good.
