Nora Blake is spending her first year living on her own after years spent at college. Growing up in southern California her parents clung on as they watched their only daughter move away to a lonely city 16 hours away. She took a job as a small town newspaper editor in Colorado Springs while she is struggling writing her first novel. Her dream is to become a published author and now that college is over and she has moved away from home she knows it must be the right time for her to succeed, but her plans and her reality aren't coinciding.
Nora doesn't know what it is, but ever since she has moved she hasn't been able to write anything she can stand to read more than twice before holding down delete on her laptop keyboard. After two months she has decided she needs to get her groove back in order to fulfill her big plans, but to her surprise even more distractions keep her away from the thing she wants most.

As I leave, the cold British wind greets me. I zip up my sweater, and start walking home. Thanks to my parents, I don't have a car. "You're too irresponsible for a car, Courtney. I decided to move away and to try and find an exit but I didn't even take one step back when I heard his voice. "Princess? Is that you?" I saw him raise his head before shooting his eyes onto me. The sudden gaze caused to heart to race while it froze my body as if I have turned into ice. I felt the fear engulf my body, eating me inside out. "You aren't scared of me... Are you?" he asked me, I sensed the envy in his voice. That mixed with his harsh tone caused a wave of goosebumps to course through my body. I wanted to begin by asking him where was I? Why was I here? Why was he here... I wanted to ask him, but I couldn't, the fear was just all too much for me. "Come on... Speak to me... Ask me..." he began. "Ask me 'why am I here' and all of that crap... Entertain me with your fear." I saw him slowly gripping a knife that was on the countertop, with his eyes still on mine.
