Emmeline Victoria Winsome Rhodes grew up torn between her father's stuffy, uptight, royal, English family and her mother's self-made, hard-working, small town, American family. Emme never checked all the boxes to fit into either world, but, after her mother's sudden death, she finds herself reeling and wanting a foothold in one place or the other. Her father's family would like her to raise her status. Nothing looks as good to them as a title, but, to Emme, the tiaras feel a little like dress up. Her mother's family would like her to settle near them in Nashville, Indiana and work to make a name for herself, though her slight English accent and ability to set the table for an eight course meal tend to create some kind of invisible rift between herself and them. Something has to give for Emme to find solid ground to stand on and find some place to call home.
