When Auclair Academy is set to close due to bankruptcy, and the headmistress is found dead at the bottom of an old well at the back of the school, suddenly many students are left without a home. Much to Alaric Saltzman's disgust, Caroline Salvatore insists they take on these supernatural beings, not only because the outside world would be safer with them being at the Salvatore school, but because the Salvatore woman believed they all had the potential to change.
