It was in 2011 when Neeraj Chopra first held a javelin in his hand. In those days, Neeraj was overweight, and his family convinced him to play sports to shed some weight. Neeraj was at first brought into playing cricket and volleyball before he was spotted by Jai Choudhary, who himself a javelin thrower.

Although, Neeraj Chopra considered javelin to be only a method for recreation to get his body in shape. Bringing Olympic brilliance to the country would not have been his far-off dream.
