Quintessence: A unique form of energy, specifically life itself.

Katrina Hart, young SHIELD agent and mutant.

Having been raised by some of SHIELD's best agents and a man with a Captain America trading card collection, her name was one of the top choices for the Avengers Initiative. When a threat from an entirely different world came into the picture, the teen was on the front lines of it all, and she quickly realized she was in over her head. So, along with 6 of Earth's mightiest heroes, she was thrown headfirst into the deep end, and the world was resting on her shoulders. And she was determined to keep it above the surface, whether or not she drowned.

(Sorry if this description sucks, it's my first story, so please be gentle. Haha! Constructive criticism is welcome, but again, nothing too harsh, please. Also, I only own Katrina and her storyline, everything else belongs to Marvel. Anyways, I hope you like the story! Will be trying to update weekly.)

A young girl, at the age of 6 tried to run from Hydra, tried to escape their grasp. Her silver eyes, shinning in the darkness, always giving her out. No where for her to run, but everywhere she wished she could. To her, there is no such thing as hero's, for if there where, she surely would have been saved by now. 2 years later, she is 8, she doesn't talk, she is beaten, she's tested on, and yet, Hydra can't seem to get her to do their bidding. Her silver eyes, never dulled, just lost the brightness that once filled her heart. "Hero's", she says, " are just made up fantasies for kids, to fill their minds with imagination. If hero's where real, then I would be saved from here long time ago." she feels no emotion, so it seems. She feels no pain, as it appears. But really, she just learned, to hold it on the inside. One day, she was suddenly pulled from one of her torture sessions, some of the agents, throwing her into a random cell. 2 staying just outside, watching, waiting. Then, they yank her out by the arms, pulling one out of its socket, dragging her somewhere else. They never seemed to slow, and when she would drag her feet into the floor, trying to stop them, she would get hit. Then, they where both shot down, by some stranger in a suit, catching his shield. More Agents came Marching down the Hall, at a sprint toward them. The girl, being grabbed my one, and slung over the shoulder. As she was giving up hope, the man saved her, once again, and taking her to a place, that has people who all love her, and are all hero's. She still doesn't believe in hero's, she believes, that there is nice people in the world, who want to try and save it. Azeya is a young resident of the planet Sarentu, a tribal society full of warriors and hunters. For her entire life her people have been training to defend themselves, preparing for what seems to be an inevitable battle. But Azeya is not a fighter, never has been. She's an inventor, a dreamer - someone who creates and uses her hands to build, not to wield a spear and bow in battle. And, to her dismay, she's the only one in her village who feels this way. But, unfortunately, a fight does come. Sarentu is invaded by powerful soldiers from another planet. And despite their training, the Sarentu are unprepared to match them. After all, spears and bows do little to nothing against guns and blasters. Sent away from her home as well as powerless to stop its destruction, Azeya escapes Sarentu, where she crash lands on the planet Earth. Though her initial welcome is less than warm, not long after her arrival she's taken in by a man named Clint Barton. He takes her to his home, where Azeya quickly realizes something. There's no war to prepare for here, no intense training to go through on a daily basis, no scorn or shame for choosing not to fight. Life on Clint's farm is calm and relaxing, and for the first time in her life, Azeya feels something she's never felt before: peace. However, Azeya's new home is threatened only months after her arrival, forcing her to break out of her comfortable life and use the training she received over so many years. And, as she soon finds out, things are never easy, even for an alien. Throughout her journey to self-discovery and to save her new home, she's faced with friendship, family, betrayal, loss - and even a little bit of love. And, with the team of heroes that would eventually be known as the Avengers by her side, Azeya comes to terms with who she is, her destiny, and what it truly means to be a hero. © Uraza Mwandishi 2024.
