Kelly White and Benjamin Brown are from two very different sides of the stick. Kelly White is an African american female slave brought to America from Africa, while Benjamin Brown is a Caucasian boy, child to the plantation slave masters. One day, Benjamin is forced to attend the slave auction, and that's when he first lays eyes on the fierce Kelly.

Benjamin never treated any of the slaves wrongly because of their skin color. When Benjamin's parents noticed that Benjamin 'favored' Kelly, more than the other slaves, they make him do horrible things. 

Benjamin has to decide whether to risk Kelly's death by continually seeing her, or risk their relationship by ignoring her and treating her badly.

But the real question here is: how will the two find love in a racist society?
