I'm Nobody. Who Are You?

I shuffle through the hallway, avoiding eye contact. Just another day in the life of a high school loser. I grit my teeth as someone shoves past me, knocking my shoulder hard. No apology, not even a second glance. Barely even a first. Not that I'm surprised.

Pushing open the doors leading outside, I walk down the path to the sidewalk along which the bus is sitting idly, waiting to bring me home. I get on and anxiously slide into the front seat as quickly as possible. This is my daily routine.

Head down? Check.

Headphones? Check.

Music loud enough to block it all out, but not loud enough to draw attention? Check.

My life pretty much consists of staying out of everyone's way as much as possible.
If I don't acknowledge them, most days I'm lucky and they don't acknowledge me.

I'm invisible.

And it's better this way.
