When Kathryn Woods a eighteen year old girl joins the academy, "Warefire" her life changes. Being the only girl attending classes she has to hide and sit behind letting her peers answer and learn. Kathryn wants to make a mark and show that woman can learn alongside with men. Kathryn is forced to work with Lawrence Morgan after her friend the Headmaster's ward sends in a letter requesting to give Kathryn a chance to prove herself.  When class begins for the season murders start to happen, and with those comes a lot of secrets. Kathryn alongside with her closest friend at the academy, Cora Walker, and Kathryn's peer Lawrence Morgan have to solve the mystery without worrying any of the other classmates.  The more they get closer the answer the further away from sanity they get.
