Sorrel twig of whisper was considered a weed by her own kind and was therefore an outcast. It didn't help that she can't fly anymore but she copes with it by learning how to get around by climbing and swinging from trees to get somewhere high up. Or just walked and tried to survive what other fairies called The Barrens 

Thinking she was alone she eventually starts meeting this bone fairy named Araceae who grew up in the was very similar situation and they grow very close and go on all kinds of adventures.
