With that, Sabito grabbed Lumae's hand and started running down the path, her sprinting and stumbling to keep up with him; both laughing with the pure joy of that sweet moment.

Urokodaki stood by the door, smiling sadly under his tengu mask; praying the boy who had brought so much joy into that quiet girl's life would survive the deadliness of the Final Selection.

Lumae Nusima's parents are gone. They died when she was four, along with a hundred innocent people devoured by the demon. She never spoke, she just did what was asked of her. It kept her out of trouble.

One day, her life suddenly flipped upside down, starting with the death of her betrothed.

After her tragic backstory, she finds herself learning Thunder breathing, preparing for the Final Selection, and relocating a childhood friend while rising steadily through the demon slayer ranks.

Then she promised herself to fulfill Sabito's last wish:

"Use your voice."
