After finding out Clay has a severe and life threatening dairy allergy, he keeps getting more and more stomach aches and allergic symptoms to other foods to the point he is barely allowed to eat anything anymore. He is so sick of always feeling awful that not eating anything seems like the best way out...
Sapnap went through a traumatic past and has always been ignored by his parents because his disabled brother, George, needs all the help he could get. Sapnap starts experiencing more and more problems, every now and then reverting to a younger person while he skips school to escape his bullies.
Clay and Sapnap meet in an unexpected way and seem to get along very well. Clay loves taking care of George and the two finally seem to be able to talk about their hidden pain and feelings, but unfortunately, that doesn't solve the problems they go through...

George is cancer free after a long battle full of chemotherapy and surgeries at his fourteenth. He starts living his life again, goes back to school and hangs out with his friends and family to appreciate all the small things in life as his leg starts hurting again... Clay is grieving because his mother passed away from lymphoma, a cancer type that's running in his family. With barely anyone around him who can comfort him while grieving, he also needs to deal with his severe anxiety coming from emetophobia, his extreme fear of throwing up. But then the worst thing happens... just as Clay gets diagnosed with blood cancer, George gets diagnosed for the second time with bone cancer. Clay's fear is so big that he doesn't know how to go on and George doesn't know if he can fight this battle a second time... Clay isn't able to go to school after he gets diagnosed with gastroparesis, a partial paralysis of the stomach. The daily usage of liquid food through his nose tube, extreme stomach pains and frequent throwing up are now the main topics of his life which drives him to absolute madness... After George gets kicked out from his home, he needs to live on the streets and survive on his own as an underaged boy. He starts using his money in the wrong way and eventually runs out, seeking a job as a babysitter in a family with a very sick boy. Clay does anything to enjoy life as a normal teen and acts like the funny guy who constantly jokes about his sexuality and uses a lot of pick-up lines which makes everyone laugh. His attempt to lose weight goes so far that his weight drops dangerously low which leads to a forced hospital stay, causing a lot of traumatic experiences. No one seems to understand the very sick Clay and he starts slipping away more and more, not believing anyone who tells him he suffers from anorexia nervosa. Everything keeps escalating until a young boy with bulimia nervosa stays with him in his hospital room...
