On the night before their 16th birthday, almost every single person on the planet has what is known as the Dream. The Dream can have any plot, as real or fantastical as you want.  It is the only dream you'll have in your entire life, and in it you see your soulmate.

For Riley and 64, the Dream is the last thing on either of their minds. They're on opposite sides of a military dictatorship and a civil war against magical and non-magical peoples. However, they collide when Riley and his little brother get arrested, forcing them to work together. Rebel and government soldier, magical and non-magical. It normally could never happen, but the universe has other plans.
