✨A WATTYS 2022 PARANORMAL & "BEST CHARACTERS" WINNER✨

A college basketball star risks everything to prove his innocence with a girl who can communicate with ghosts.

***
Ace Jones isn't certain about a lot of things in life, but basketball has always come easy. This is until he finds himself as the prime suspect of a murder he knows he didn't commit. Lucky for him, Devyn Brooks knows he didn't commit it either. But not because she witnessed it--she simply sees the victim as plain as day and even endures her incessant talking. Though Devyn usually does everything in her power to hide her supernatural ability, she'll have to start embracing it in order to save Ace from a common fate. And Ace will discover a deeper part of his identity that challenges his notions of the world. Will they be able to solve a case that America is so eager to pin on another Black man?

[Complete. Wattys 2023 Winner] The Redding takes you if it knows your name. That's the rule that's kept Meg alive --- or awake, rather --- since the night the world went to hell. Nobody knows where the red stuff came from, but it acts like water, it's in the water, and it falls as rain every night. The people it captures drop like puppets with their strings cut. They're asleep, not dead, and you can wake them if you say their name again. But then they just try to kill you. Meg and the other survivors she's befriended think they've found a stable equilibrium, six weeks after the catastrophe began. Nicknames become real names, and Meg knows she's getting better at identifying safe houses. Her crush discovers that Morse code, like writing, is a safe way to say a Sleeper's name. It's the night after learning it that Meg wakes up just as the nightly rain is starting. Raindrops, as it turns out, can make dots and dashes, too. The Redding can talk. And it's telling her to run. ❖❖❖ Complete. Wattys 2023 Winner. When Olivia Parker is found dead at a high school party gone wrong, it seems obvious who her killer was. Wesley Owens was found next to her covered in blood. Obviously, he did it. The question was why. With the entire senior class attending the end of the year bash, it shouldn't have been that simple to get away with the crime. There had to be witnesses and alibis, especially in the tight-knit friend group found at the scene. Now, with the eyes of everyone on them, the group has to pick up their broken pieces and figure out what actually happened that night before one of them gets falsely accused. With each step closer to the truth, the friends start to get more and more hesitant to reveal the truth and start to realize no one seems to be innocent. (Featured on Wattpad Picks twice!) (Shortlisted for the 2018 Wattys!) In the process of a rewrite!
