Karl is not in control of his ability to time travel; he jumps at random to equally random times and locations. And worse of all, whenever he jumps, he looses his memory.
Dream is an immortal who has been watching Karl for a long time now. Whenever they meet, Karl of course does not remember Dream and all they've been through, but around him always clings an overpowering sence of déjà vu.
It is heartbreaking for Dream to watch the one person he loves so much, the person he knows so well, look at him as he would any other stranger. And Dream can do nothing to help him.

The Rink
