Tommy had gotten away from Dream in the canon universe, but in another Tommy was caught and turned into a living punching bag and, kinda, an experiment for Dream later on. He didn't expect Tommy to lose his emotions, the nervous system that told him when he was in pain, and even the will to carry on without Dream by his side. He didn't think that killing and reviving Tommy would affect him so much, but then again Dream wasn't complaining in the slightest. He finally had full control over Tommy, something he'd been craving since he first met the teen. He was not about to let his grip on the teen loosen.

Tommy had just recently moved homes. The one he left was one full of memories. Not good ones, but not necessarily bad ones, either. He didn't have much to live for at his old home, so he moved in hope of starting over and meeting new people. He had no more family, and his school friends had long moved on from him. This time, though, he forgot to charge his phone before leaving his new, barely furnished apartment. He didn't think much of it. If it died, it died. No biggie, right? He didn't know where he was or how to get back to his apartment, especially without a GPS. And then, when it definitely couldn't get worse, it began to rain. Tommy was soaked. He was cold, hungry. He cut into an alley and sat down against a brick wall, curled up on himself. He sat there for a while, and then heard footsteps. It was three men. The older one crouched down in front of him. He was done with Dream, he was done letting people hurt him, he was done with L'manburg and how much pain that place alone had brought him. "It's a place that only holds sorrow and fear now, Tommy." Wilbur had said, his brown eyes dull as he spoke. "It's brought grief even to us, hasn't it." Wilbur looked at Tommy before he continued. "It's not the place I built, L'manburg not the place that you and I loved." How right Tommy realized Wilbur was. But he had hoped that L'manburg wasn't a lost cause, that what he had fought so hard for was still salvageable. But he knew that L'manburg was always meant to fall, and they had only delayed it's downfall. "I-I'm sorry Wilbur... I should have listened to you."
