Zeref Dragneel was alone, and that's how he liked it, or so he claimed. It made things much easier for what he needed to do to survive, as well as continuing his research into the only thing that kept him going.

Four hundred years of being alone had left him hollow, a mere shell of his former self, but how could he be anything else? The death of his family had more than ruined him, it had been the start of his descent into his own personal hell.

Driven to the point of obsession, Zeref will stop at nothing to bring back his family in the hopes of restoring their souls and his own. If that means stealing the blood of the living to be able to continue his work and his wretched existence, then so be it.

He has no preference to where the blood comes from as long as it's fresh, that is until a fated discovery throws him into the path of a beautiful young girl. A girl with hair of spun gold, eyes of darkest ebony and a soul that radiated pure light.
