Jacob saved Edward in Italy so they started to not hate one another. That was when Alice had a vision of, not Bella, but Jacob running with Edward as a vampire. She kept it from Edward but showed Aro who was excited to see the outcome.

Edward didn't ask Bella to marry him. They only kissed a couple of times. Jacob never tried to kiss Bella, they are only best friends.
