When the Night Falls

Alec Crimson lives in Orson, a district created after the first attack from the Keir.
For the past six years, humans lived in a real hell. Creatures from dark places on earth began haunting the surface. These monsters are called the Keir Erebus of Annihilation. At least, that's their first name. Now they're mostly called Keir or Keir Erebus.

After those six years, the Keir crawled back into the depths they came from and the districts over the world took that chance to build a reasonable existence.

One day, five years after the last attacks on the districts, Alec meets a guy named Zander Quylla. He escaped his district and stranded here.
He appears to be a nice guy and Alec takes him to his friends.
Until deep in the night they talk about everything that happened in Orson with Zander and in turn he tells them about his district, Helios.
They get along really well, but the next day Alec finds himself in a life-threatening situation and it is only a question of whether he made it out alive or not.

'Alec! Help!'

It was Atlas. He hadn't moved. I could see him now. He sat up against the wall.
I covered my mouth and nose and crawled further. The lower I was the better I could see and breathe.

'Atlas! I'm coming. Get on your knees and keep your head low.'

I coughed. The smoke almost filled the room.

"Come on, Atlas', I said as I grabbed his hand. 'Through the front door!'

Atlas stood up and followed me. We held our heads low.

'Just a few steps more!'

Then, Atlas collapsed to the floor.
