Cassian Andor is not a fool. At only 23, he's already a crucial part of the Rebel Alliance, known for his ability to keep a level head and accomplish whatever task is needed. He is highly skilled, incredibly intelligent, and devoted to the cause. Cassian Andor doesn't make mistakes.
Except this time.
When a mission gone wrong forces Cassian to hijack a ship, the only thing on his mind is getting off-world as quickly as possible. It never occurs to him that the ship might not be empty, let alone that the inadvertent stowaway might be the smart-mouthed daughter of a member of the Imperial Council.
Cassian's accidental kidnapping of a high-ranking official's family member has added yet another target to the backs of the Rebels -- but that doesn't mean it can't be a net positive in the end. What does the girl know about the Empire's plans? Could she prove useful somehow? Can this situation be redeemed?
Presumably because he is the person most capable of accomplishing the task -- and also, he suspects, because his momentary carelessness makes this situation entirely his fault -- Cassian is grounded to the base and personally burdened with supervising the Alliance's new prisoner. He needs to gain her trust somehow and find out what she knows, but it's hard to maintain his carefully-crafted spy's facade when, inexplicably, he can't seem to stop worrying about what's going to happen to her once his job is done...
