Cum bine se poate observa şi din titlu, această lucrare îşi propune să ofere celor interesaţi de domeniul mitologic cheia descifrării diferitelor practici ritualice ale românilor încă din cele mai vechi timpuri. Lucrarea se adresează atât celor avizaţi în domeniul mitologiei şi al cosmogoniei, cât şi celor pasionaţi de acest univers al simbolisticii. Fiind o lucrare de cercetare a fenomenului mitologic şi simbolistic românesc, aceasta este însoţită şi de un aparat critic destul de complex, o bibliografie bogată ce conţine şi referinţe critice.
           Cartea se vrea a fi un elogiu adus concitadinului meu, etnograful Tudor Pamfile, personalitate ilustră a culturii locale tecucene şi bârlădene, unul dintre cei mai avizaţi cunoscători ai simbolurilor mitologice româneşti ai începutulu de secol XX.
