I was breathing the peaceful atmosphere of the night, after a fight, nothing could calm me down more than a walk where you can't see anything. Just aimlessly trying to run away, hoping to see a light to reach forward to. Surprisingly that's when I first saw him, under a street lamp, emitting light as if it was from his own aura, and the smell of burning from the cigarette he was smoking. I was quickly aware of his presence and walked past him, however as I walked, something more overpowering scent was coming from him. I couldn't put my finger on what the scent was... Whiskey? I couldn't be sure.
A sudden noise interrupted my thoughts, and made me feel a gaze behind my back, I picked up the call. I was standing just a few steps away from the lamp and I fidgeted around as I talked as softly as possible.

Gnarly roots dip into ground and twisted branches reach down, fingers grasping the air, as if reaching for me and I shiver, thinking of my father. I cast my eyes up to think of something else and instantly calm as another puff of breeze rustles the leaves on the trees and ground gently. I look ahead and notice the steady thinning of the old trees and run towards it, loving the feeling of the air in my air and clothes. I can usually sense when Him is near. Today, though, his presence is stronger. I can almost feel Him next to me, weighing down the mattress. Some nights, I roll over and imagine how he looks, envision his smile or the sparkle in his eyes. He's never there and I'm left clutching to the thought that he exists, staring into empty air. Tonight, though, I swear I can reach out and touch him. Extending my hand gently, I sweep my hand out into the darkness and meet an inexplicable warmth.
