He lives in the heart of the black forest. His place was secured and concealed with a powerful spell to insulate himself from invaders. He was known as evil like his mother, Lilith, and his name was never spoken by other creatures for fear of summoning him. He's synonymous with wrath and death. "You're...you're my mate," Xerxes spoke, barely audible while he held the pale hands of Azazel. His slender fingers clutched tightly on a sharp piece of glass, pierced deep into Xerxes' heart. The warlock's own hands dripped with blood as he gripped the sharp object with too much pressure. Their blood conjoined on the thirsty land. Azazel's green-blazing eyes met the other's closing brown orbs, concealing the pair of galaxies he always adored. "I am. Your Goddess punished me to be...and my hands are fated to be soaked with your blood, mate. The painful death, for the greatest number."

"Did you think it was brave? Or did you think it was necessary? To defy me." His words felt like a knife twisting in her gut and his silver eyes drunk in her fear at his leisure. "Oh no, let me guess, you wanted to hold onto that 'humanity' of yours for just a little longer?" He scoffed and the colour drained from her face. He bent down slowly, tangling his fingers within her hair before he yanked her forwards, craning her neck to meet his glare. She withheld the shriek that threatened to escape from her. Eyes now locked, she watched in horror as his irises began to cloud over. "Your soul is mine." He let the hair fall loosely across her face, chuckling low into her ears. "And it's as black as my own." A shudder ran down her spine. "Never forget that you belong to me." She felt numbed, dizzied, like someone had just dodged her best right hook and had been knocked off balance. Even after everything, the feeling was unfamiliar to her. He leant his face in closer, purposely letting his fangs fall over his bottom lip. "Forget it, and you may not be the one who suffers the consequences of it." ----------------------------------------------------------------- Cassie Ellis didn't have the greatest start in life. Her parents were killed when she was just six and her adoptive family don't even remember her name. Suddenly a group of cold hearted vampires offer to save her from her nightmares, in return for her soul and ultimately trapping her in an unknown world, filled with dangers, heartbreak and lies. Now she just waits for the vampire Cole to devour her soul, ending her guilt ridden existence. But are things really going to be that simple? Or are there other plans in motion? 'Sometimes there are secrets that even the darkness can't keep.' Book rankings achieved so far: #950 #880 #560 #352 #95
