An Inquisitor of the Ordo Hereticus has arrived on Cadia and has requested a regiment for assistance in his investigation. The 1333rd Cadian Regiment has been seconded to his command, much to the dismay of its troopers. What quickly turns from a simple operation exposes Staff Sergeant 'Marsh' Silas to a greater mystery locked behind this cryptic agent. Mystified, he will have to keep his men alive while following Inquisitor Barlocke down a challenging path of thought, doubt, self-discovery, darkness, and hope.

Aided by Deathwatch Squad Ostentia, a wounded squad sent to reinforce the Twentieth, and their Battle Brother Varis, they join Chaplain Marshal Reimar and his fight against the forces of Chaos and aim to strike a blow against Hepharion that he will not soon forget.
