Genesis Monroe; a boujee black girl moving from Hollywood California, to Brooklyn New York with her mother, Evelyn Monroe.
Coming a cross a high school that has good academic behavior, both Genesis and Evelyn agree to go to the school.

As the semester passes, Genesis comes across the dark side of the school that glamorizes gangs and drugs.
Genesis somehow finds herself coming across a group of thugs named Johnny Johnson (Snoop Dogg), Jeremiah Williams (Omar Epps) and Raymond Wood (Tupac Shakur).

Continuing to hang out with the group, and learning what "Thug Life" is, she begins to fall in love with Raymond.
Which her mother on the other hand does not want her to date a black hoodlum from Brooklyn New York.
