Maverick Johnson, a high school student, enjoys adventuring and video chatting with people online. During a stop in the woods, his friend, Jack, discovers an ancient puzzle. Together, along with fellow friends Melanie and Cody, the four of them set out to solve the mystery, only to get seriously injured in a cave.
Shortly after receiving a blood transfer, Maverick starts to undergo a shocking change: His legs start growing scales on them. Then his chest and back. As the changes become more profound, Jack brings him to his family estate, where Maverick eventually turns into a full-on dragon. Can his friends keep him safe? And where will he live?
