As they entered the city, Velius Hulds, the 
city's terrifying creatures, tried to pursue them, forcing Maru and Danil to go their separate ways. 

Danil will learn a lot about the city and how to escape, but he won't be able to leave without the friends he's made both inside and outside the city, especially Maru, so he needs to find her first.
