Democracy in Peril - Socio/Political Musings of Whitebeard-I

Is democracy really in peril? Many things are happening around the world that simply don't make sense, until one starts looking below the surface. The world is being hit by two mega trends: global warming and growing inequality. The two are connected and the common link is those who want to take our democracy away - a powerful group of people who share a Far Right ideology! It espouses values such as personal freedoms but their real goal is authoritarian rule. Our grandparents fought fascism during world war two because it was against the democratic values they held dear. Now, some powerful people are working insidiously to bring it back. They espouse libertarianism, but dictators don't care about personal freedoms. Look at China and what they have done to Hong Kong. Look at Russia and what they have done to the legal opposition party and its leaders. Look at Belarus for more of the same. Look at America and how close it's come to the political precipice.
We're being manipulated by Dark Money, and the sooner we realize it, the sooner we can fight back for democracy - it's too precious to lose!
