"Daniel?" She blinked at him. An old friend.
He swallowed. "You never left. You waited. You..." he trailed off. And Nicole saw the confusion in his eyes. The cloudiness. "You stayed."
She let out a small chuckle. Amused that it took him this long to realize. She shook his grip off her wrist, and stood up straight. "Not anymore."
She turned around to try and end the conversation at that, but he took her wrist again and pulled her closer to him, taking her by surprise, but not taking her guard down. "You never told me."
"You never asked." she pushed herself off of him, this time with more force. "You never even said anything."
She huffed out a breath. Daniel flailed his arms on his side. "But why didn't you say anything?"
Her eyes widened. The audacity!? "Why would I?! You disappeared!" She was on the verge of shouting. "What did you expect me to do, chase you? Like every other person you've disappeared on?" She scoffed.
She put her hands on her hips, and narrowed her eyes at him. All the pent up anger and regret and pain and everything else in between pouring into one intense glare. "Not me, Daniel."
