Fourteen-year-old Ana and her sixteen-year-old brother, Sam, are lost in the woods, cold, tired, and hungry. Their only hope is an old train station in the woods. When a train stops at the station, they are sure they are saved. The train seems familiar, like something from a story their Grandmother used to tell them, but the train isn't quite what it was in Gran's story.

This story is an entry in the Open Novella Contest 2022. The prompt was "When Grandma told them about the train that comes once a year to take children to the land of dreams, the siblings thought it was just a silly old legend. But then, they heard a steam whistle in the middle of the night." I'm taking that idea but changing it pretty drastically. There's a grandmother, and siblings, and a train but that's about it.

**Trigger warning- the story includes an attack of a sexual nature. The attack is not graphic.**

Five cousins choose to spend their summer break in a village called Ravenwood where they are to reside in a cabin surrounded by nothing but woods and secrets for at least two weeks. Not only this, the village and the cabin have a dark past of its own...and present too. The latter one quite literally since the devil has itself decided to lurk the hallways of their cabin leaving them to choose between their own survival and each other's. Bloodshed, demons, ghosts, murders, gore and superstitions with tiny bits of romance, friendships and family love: CURSED is a mixture of all the kinds of emotions and genres you can think of. ******* Bang bang! I stood up from the water slowly and steadily trying not to trip and picked up the towel, wrapping myself in it immediately. The water was dripping wherever I went and with my back at the door, I frantically stepped backwards and reached the doorknob from behind, turning it to the left to open, all while not letting my eyes stray away from the window. I turned and turned, but it didn't open. My eyes went wide when realisation struck in. I WAS TRAPPED. I rattled through my brain, trying to find a way, trying to think how I can keep fighting because no matter what the situation is, still I didn't want to lose, my eyes stuck on the redness of the thing on my window. The bathroom was on the second floor. There was no way, it was a person; and that's what scared me the most. And then suddenly, I heard a click. ******** [This story contains explicit language and gory details. Read at your own risk.] Top Ranks: #3 in cabininthewoods #1 in adolescene
