Too Dark for you to Love
In the gloomy town of Deathmoure, located amidst misty landscapes, people possessed an unusual trait - they couldn't inflict death on anyone, including themselves. It was a pacifist's dark utopia but for my grieving heart of a white widow, it was a prison - a sanctuary of despair. Needing a path out of this grief-stricken existence, I began my search for a reaper who could aid in my departure. With the newly arrived reaper, broad-shouldered with a charismatic, sly charm that was hard to withstand, I found myself engulfed in a bizarre investigation. Mysterious events began occurring within our rainy town, pointing indirectly toward my mysterious reaper. Amidst this chaos, an unlikely sentiment blossomed within me - love. As the investigation deepened, so did the connection between me and my reaper. It was an unexpected twist, a cosmic joke. I was no longer an icy fortress but a hopeful woman, falling in love with the man who was uncovering the darkest secrets of the people around me. England, 20th-century. Days before her wedding Aster escapes busy London, retreating to her grand grandmother's cottage in South England to pick up a traditional wedding dress. In an old chest of drawers, she finds a ticket to the city she's never heard of and a stack of love letters never sent. A ticket, curiously, expires today. What she finds a short train ride away exceeds all of her expectations and makes her finally believe in fairytales. But nothing is ever permanent in Summer. The House In The Forest
Albert Beckett was forced to move to his grandfather's backwater town to live for a year while his parents were traveling for work, and while it seems like a boring sleepy town, things aren't so cozy. The people are curious and overly friendly, and the weird town myth that has a hundred different varieties weighs heavy on his heart. The old closed highway behind town and the off-road that none of his friends will walk bring him nightmares of a women with dark hair. The mysteries of this town and whatever strange events that occurred all those years ago seem to be pulling him in, and the house at the end of that off-road that was supposed to be abandoned holds the one thing that he wasn't expecting to find, who quickly grows to be the one thing he doesn't want to lose. ~Story is complete, but not edited, originally written in 2021 for the National Novel Writing Month challenge~Complete
