When you are 16, you go through a coming-of-age ceremony, and a die is rolled to determine the guardian beast, which comes out of the Gehenna Gate, that you are bound to, based on the face it shows.

But what if the die lands and balances on its edge?

They are called the Invalids: pariahs, outcasts feared for the unfathomable potential within oneself, feared for what  could be, and feared for what they would become, if they were part of society. Lee Soon Weng is one of them—but, when the Gate opens, nothing came out.
