Their wedding day would mark the day I left Utah, the church and my family, the month I announced I was gay and was sent away... there was no room for gay here...and in turn no room for me. Allie wouldn't understand, my absence, or my silence...and five years would pass...painfully for us both.

Allie had a child, I went to college, feelings got left buried, but thoughts were daily, and she never left my mind...not for a day, and what I didn't know was that she was in that same place...lost and waiting for me to return.

And I would return... one christmas five years later... and with me every feeling and emotion resurrected. 

Our teens were only the beginning because the journey to Alberta was about to span through our twenties and into our thirties. A journey home.

My smile got bigger, these people are my new family. It was hard to get where I am today but in the end it was worth it if I can stay here with the people I love and never look back.
