In a world where peace and pandemonium fought, several assassins from Drenthien, the kingdom of the East are sent by the ruthless King of Kallenthus to get a girl from his own kingdom, believing she is the heir of a fallen kingdom after discovering a generational conundrum.

When the assassins fail to retrieve the king's captive once, he agrees to give his throne to anyone who can bring her to him. With several people planning to whisk her away, the assassins must do what they do best to succeed with the king.

And if they fail the king again, not only would they lose the prize of a lifetime, but their lives would be at stake. Now all the bets are off, and everyone has a chance at winning the king's throne. However, the king has taken Astree's only relatives and threatened their lives, so she may have no other choice but to turn herself in for the king's bidding.

But hidden beneath the shadows in Kallenthus, the king's prisoner lie low, soon identifying the lies and treacherous traitors of the kingdom. Bits and pieces of their world fall apart, but when another kingdom is at rival with Kallenthus, alliances may drift and myths soon become reality.

From the shadowed alcove of Kallenthus itself, Astree Iolayn won't stop until the King of Kallenthus is dead at her feet along with his kingdom. But why does she hesitate when she has the king at knife point?

The path fate lays before us is often many years in the making, and the tale of the Phoenix and the God-spawn is no different. Nearly 3,000 years before the war that would bring about Astaroth's defeat, another battle was waged to ensure there would be a future to fight for. Duty has been thrust upon Prince Azael Cadhael for centuries, first by filling the role of an uncrowned King, but his true story begins as all royal stories do: with a ball, a secret, and a peculiar dream. When Azael overhears the whispered plans of his betrothed and her twin brother to leave with the Phoenix on a goddess-given quest, he must surrender to a new type of duty entirely. Navigating his ever increasingly strained relationship with Tissaia Lochren while striving to save the future of his kingdom isn't a job easily done, and her closeness with the Phoenix, Kaius, certainly doesn't make it any easier. Tissaia has spent years in the shadows of her own failure and her father's wrath. Kaius's quest offers her and her brother Talarion a chance to claim their freedom at long last, but fighting ones' past can be just as deadly as fighting an armed foe, especially if that past isn't keen on backing down. If they're going to succeed, all four of them must learn to recognize the power in truth and bared secrets, as well as the strength in kinship. If they fail, it could mean the doom of all Asterria for an age. But if they succeed, perhaps fate will be kinder than they have been led to believe.
