Darkness is gathering. The shadows grow, but no one is yet aware of it. Aster only wants to live a life of peace for himself and his little sister, Sorrel. Mikael wants to save his father, the king, and only Aster can help. The two uncover a shocking secret about the king, and an even darker one about their kingdom. Kohinna, the princess of a rival nation who was originally there as a spy on her father's orders begins to see the truth of what her father is.
In a nearby kingdom, Ryuku is faced with a tough choice, one that could change the fate of her kingdom, and of the world, for better or for worse, is yet to be seen.
And Willow, a young boy in the care of the Fae keeps having horrific nightmares and visions of endless darkness. He doesn't yet understand what exactly they mean, only that they are vision of the future, the future of their world overrun by shadows.
